The Pinion Platform | Containerised CHP, engineered in Britain
Technology

Combined heat and power, engineered like it has to run forever.

Because it nearly does. A Pinion unit operates continuously for up to twenty years. Every component is specified for that life, and every unit is tested at load before it leaves the factory floor.

How it works

One gas supply in.
Electricity, heat and cooling out.

Gas drives the engine. The engine drives the generator. The generator makes your electricity, behind your meter, free of the network charges and levies that load every grid unit you buy.

Then we go after the heat the grid throws away. Jacket water and exhaust heat are recovered and piped to wherever your site needs warmth: process heat, space heating, hot water. Add an absorption chiller and that same heat becomes cooling, with no moving refrigeration parts and no additional electrical load.

Generated behind your meter.

02
Heat

Process heat, space heating, hot water.

03
Cooling

Via absorption chiller, from the same heat.

90%+

Total fuel efficiency. Conventional grid generation delivers around half of that, before transmission losses. This is why on-site generation is cheaper. It isn't a discount. It's physics.

Build or source

The engine comes from Europe's best. Everything around it is Pinion.

Every X-Series unit is built around a gas engine from one of Europe's established makers, chosen for your site, your fuel and the earliest delivery slot. We don't tie a project to one maker's order book, and we don't pretend to cast our own engine blocks.

01
Build

We take a bare gas engine and build the full CHP package around it in our UK facility: generator coupling, heat recovery, exhaust treatment, controls, switchgear and acoustic enclosure. Then we test it at full load before it ships.

02
Source

When a packaged genset gets you power sooner, we source it from a specialist packager and engineer everything else: site integration, heat recovery, absorption cooling, grid connection, commissioning and service.

The X-Series

The X-Series: containerised CHP from 500kW to 2.5MW.

Seven ratings in three frame sizes. Figures are nominal electrical output; the exact rating depends on the engine selected for your site.

Every unit ships with remote monitoring, automatic grid-parallel or island-mode operation, and acoustic enclosure options for sensitive sites. Engine names belong to their makers and are listed to show the engine families each rating is built around.

Fuel flexibility

Natural gas, biomethane or a hydrogen blend. Built for the gas you'll burn next.

Every Pinion engine runs on natural gas today and biomethane tomorrow, with no conversion cost. Hydrogen blending is on our development roadmap. Where a site has no gas main at all, units run from on-site LNG storage, fully off-grid.

Decarbonisation shouldn't require new hardware. Ours doesn't.

Portability

Containerised power that moves when you do.

A Pinion unit is not civil infrastructure. It arrives on a truck, sits on a pad, and can be redeployed if your operations relocate or your load changes. For growing businesses, that flexibility is worth as much as the price of the power. See it in our CHP deployments.

Monitoring and service

Remote monitoring around the clock, by the people who built it.

Every unit reports continuously to our operations centre: output, temperatures, emissions, efficiency. Service intervals are scheduled around your production, and we hold critical spares for every engine family we build with, so a repair isn't waiting on someone else's parts queue.
